Josephus was born on February 11th, 1721.  Josephus' father was Andreas Benoit and his mother was Joanna Maria Geldhof.  His paternal grandparents were Carolus Benoit and Mayken Lammertijn. He had two brothers and a sister, named Joannes Oliverius Eligius, Andreas Augustinus and Judoca.  He was the third oldest of the four children.
