Alfried was born on December 6th, 1881 in Basel, Switzerland.  Alfried's father was Franz Joseph Christ (Christmann) and his mother was Maria Elizabeth Raas. He had three brothers and five sisters, named Rudohph, Ernest, Arnold, Anna, Julianna, Bertha, Bertha and Fredia.  He was buried in Laurel Grove Cemetary, Totowa, New Jersey.
