Margaret was born in 1853 in 6 South Dell, Barvas, Ross-shire, Scotland.  Margaret's father was Donald Murray and her mother was Catherine Gillies. She had four brothers and four sisters, named Angus, Norman, Donald, John, Kirsty, Ann, Mary and Flora.  She was the fifth oldest of the nine children.  She died at the age of 58 in 1911.
