William was born in 1843 and his baptism took place on January 19th, 1841 in shanagolden, Co Limerick, Ireland.¹ 

• Birth Notes

  Travelled from Ireland to Melbourne, Australia on the ship 'Mindoro' in 1857. William was aged 15.

William's father was James Foley and his mother was Catherine (Kate) Lyston. He had a brother and three sisters, named Michael, Juditham, Johanna and Honorah.  He was the third oldest of the five children.  He died due to natural causes or old age at the age of 78 on May 28th, 1921 in Melbourne, Australia.²
