Robert was born on July 5th, 1908 in Eltham, Taranaki, NZ. Robert's father was Robert Edward Bishell and his mother was Alice Agnes Margaret Daines. His maternal grandparents were Haylett "John" Daines and Mary Ann Bugg. He had a brother and two sisters, named William, Dorothy and Alice. He was the second youngest of the four children.-
