Henry was born in 1807 in Campbell, Tennessee, United States.  Henry's father was GEORGE Phillip Snodderly and his mother was ELIZABETH Turley.  His paternal grandparents were PHILIP George Snodderly and Elizabeth Sabina Schabley. He had four brothers and six sisters, named JOHN, John, Henry, Peter Jacob, Sallie, Mary, Susannah, Catherine, Sabine Elizabeth and Rachel. He had three half-brothers and four half-sisters, named Henry, Henry, Jacob, Sallie, Susannah, Rachel and Catherine.  He died at the age of 35 in 1842 in Iowa City, Wright, Iowa, United States.
