Mary Polly was born in 1796 in Wilkes, North Carolina, United States. Mary Polly's father was James Theophilus Lewis Sr. and her mother was Elvira Griffen. Her paternal grandparents were Nathaniel Lewis and Elvira Helton. She had six brothers and four sisters, named Gideon, James Theophilus, Joseph, Samuel, Juder, Isaac, Martha Patsy, Elvira, Patsy and Margaret Peggy. She had nine half-brothers and six half-sisters, named Gideon, Joseph, John, Nathan, Thaddeus, Absolom, Andrew, Samuel, Isaac, Elvira, Martha Patsy, Patsy, Margaret Peggy, Pasty and Elizabeth. She died at the age of 84 in 1880 in Elliott, Kentucky, United States.-
