Joseph was born in 1686 in Charles Co, Virginia.1   Joseph's father was Joseph Hinson and his mother was Elizabeth Hoyle.  His paternal grandparents were Robert Hinson and <Unknown>; his maternal grandparents were Charles Hoyle and <Unknown>. He had three brothers named Charles, Robert and Edmund.  He was the youngest of the four children.
