Count Hermann of Henneberg I

Hermann was born in 1224 in Coburg, Sachsen-Coburg-Gotha, Thuringia.¹ Hermann's father was Count Poppo of Henneberg VII (XIII) and his mother was Princess Jutte of Thuringia. His paternal grandparents were Count Poppo of Henneberg VI and Countess Sofie of Andechs; his maternal grandparents were Landgrave Hermann of Thuringia I and Countess Sofie of Sommerschenburg. He had a brother and a sister, named Berthold and Margarethe. He was the oldest of the three children. He had four half-brothers and three half-sisters, named Otto, Conrad, der Erlauchte, Dietrich, Hedwig, Sofie and Jutte. He died at the age of 66 on December 18th, 1290.¹
