Margrave Otto of Brandenburg I

Otto was born on June 21st, 1126 in Dresden, Sachsen, Preussen, Germany.¹ Otto's father was Duke Albrecht (The Bear) of Saxony I and his mother was Sofie Brandenburg. His paternal grandparents were Count Otto (The Rich) of Ascania and Princess Eilika of Saxony. He had six brothers and four sisters, named Hermann, Siegfried, Heinrich, Adalbert, Dietrich, Bernhard, Christine, Gertrud, Hedwig and Adelheid. He was the oldest of the eleven children. He died at the age of 57 on March 7th, 1184.²
