Otto, known as The Rich, was born in 1073 in Ballenstedt, Anhalt, Germany.1   The Rich's father was Count Adalbert of Anhalt-Ballenstedt and his mother was Countess Adelheid of Anhalt-Ballenstedt.  His paternal grandparents were Count Esiko of Anhalt-Ballenstedt and Mathilde of Anhalt-Ballenstedt; his maternal grandparents were Count Esiko of Anhalt-Ballenstedt and Mathilde of Anhalt-Ballenstedt. He had a brother named Siegfried.  He was the older of the two children.  He died at the age of 50 on February 9th, 1123 in Ballenstedt, Anhalt, Germany.1
