John de Ashton 
John was born in 1365 in Ashton-under-Lyne, Lancashire, England.1 John's father was John de Ashton and his mother was Anne Standish. His paternal grandparents were John de Ashton and Margaret Legh; his maternal grandparents were Robert de Standish and <Unknown>. He had three sisters named Cecilia, Joan and Katherine. He was the oldest of the four children. He died at the age of 63 on September 3rd, 1428 in Ashton-under-Lyne, Lancashire, England.1 General Notes
Sir John de Assheton, KB (1399); Seneschal of Bayeux 1412; Governor of Hadupais and Bailiff of Coutances 1419, MP Lancs 1411 and 1413, commanded troops at Battle of Agincourt 1415; married 1st Jane, daughter of Sir John Savile, of Tankersleigh, and had issue (including Sir Thomas Assheton, alchemist, ancestor of the extinct Asshetons of Ashton-under-Lyne, Asshetons of Chadderton, and Ashtones of Shepley); married 2nd Margaret, daughter of Sir John Byron, of Clayton, and died 3 Sep 1428.
