Rowland Thornton 
Rowland was born in 1653 in Gloucester County, Virginia.1 Rowland's father was William Thornton Sr. and his mother was Elizabeth Rowland. His paternal grandparents were William Thornton and <Unknown>; his maternal grandparents were John Rowland I and Scollis Pemberton. He had three brothers and a sister, named Luke, William, Francis and Esther. He was the second youngest of the five children.-
