Thomas Wilson Shipley 
Thomas Wilson was born on October 10th, 1855 in Van Buren, Crawford County, Arkansas, USA.1 Thomas Wilson's father was Nathan Pascal SHIPLEY and his mother was Elizabeth Mildred LESTER. His paternal grandparents were Benjamin Franklin SHIPLEY and Sarah "Sally" BURKETT. He had four brothers and a sister, named William Lester, James Wright, Nathan Pascal, Jefferson Sherman and Eliza Jane. He was the third oldest of the six children. He died at the age of 93 on December 10th, 1948 in Siloam Springs, Benton County, Arkansas, USA. He was buried in Oak Hill Cemetery, Siloam Springs, Benton County, Arkansas, USA.2 3 General Notes
Rev. Thomas Wilson Shipley was born the 8th of October, 1855 in Van Buren, Crawford County, Arkansas, the third child of Nathan Pascal Shipley, Sr. and Elizabeth Mildred Lester.(1) He married 1) Fannie Woodson Warden the 7th of October, 1883 in Crawford County, Arkansas.(2) She was born the 1st of August, 1861 in Dripping Springs, Arkansas to Dr. Tellett M.Warden(3) and Elizabeth Bartlett Amos. Fannie and Thomas had five children, all of whom were born in Arkansas: Charles Vernon was born in 1884, Marion Roland was born in 1888, Eva Woodson was born in 1890, Arthur Hayes was born in 1894, and Bernice M. was born in 1898. Fannie was seven months pregnant with their sixth child when she died of jaundice the 10th of September, 1905 in Crawford County, Arkansas. She is buried in Fairview Cemetery in Van Buren, Crawford County, Arkansas.
Thomas then married 2) Ava Josephine Galyean in 1912 in Siloam Springs, Benton County, Arkansas.(4) Josie was born the 30th of August, 1870 in Missouri to James Galyean and Elizabeth Watkins.(5) She was previously married to _____ Andrews and they had several children. She died the 9th of July, 1925 in Siloam Springs, Benton County, Arkansas(6) and is buried in Oak Hill Cemetery in Siloam Springs, Benton County, Arkansas.
Thomas was a Methodist preacher. After Josie's death he devoted himself to caring for Bernice, who was mentally impaired due to a spinal injury. He died the 10th of December, 1948 in Siloam Springs, Benton County, Arkansas and is buried at Oak Hill Cemetery in Siloam Springs.(7)

State of Arkansas

In the matter of Mothers Claim for Pension of Sarah Shipley
Mother of James NO 379,798 Co "H" 1st Ark. Infty___________
Personally came before me, a Circuit Clerk in and for aforesaid County
and State, Thomas W. Shipley aged 33 years
citizen of the Town of Chester , County of Crawford , State of
Post Office Address.
Arkanasas , well known to me to be reputable and entitled to eredit, and who,
Being duly sworn, declare in relation to aforesaid case, as follows:
Am nephew of deceased soldier. Know him and
Claimant from my earliest recollection which is distinct
back to 1866. Soldier rented land from my mother and
lived on our place two or three years, he finally made
a settlement on government lands near us and lived
with his mother the claimant until he died.
Said soldier was Claimants entire support as long as
he lived. Claimant and said soldier were very
poor people and were dependent on his daily labor
for a living. All the property they had would not
amount to over $50 they had one or two cows and one pony.
Claimant has no property now except her weaving Apponl
Not worth $10.00. He was in bad health all the time
Seemed in great suffering. I have heard him say fifty times
That he was vaccinated with poisonous matter. When
he would work one day he would be laid up for a day
or so
He further declare that he has no interes in said case, and is not concerned in
its prosecution. From 1866 to time of his death said soldier
was not able to do ½ work of an ordinary well man.
He was frequently every month layed up not able
to do any work at all. His left arm was
disabled looked red like you would peel off an old
sore that arm was sore all the time
