Elsie M. was born in March 1883 in , Wayne County, Iowa, USA.1 Elsie M.'s father was Benjamin Rush Shipley and her mother was Mary Jane Elder. Her paternal grandparents were Richard Shipley and Julinda Windom. She had two brothers and four sisters, named Henry Edward, Everette Rush, Martha Julinda, Hattie B., Alice Edna and Ethyle. She was the third youngest of the seven children. She was buried in Allerton Cemetery, Allerton, Wayne County, Iowa, USA.2 General Notes
