Margaret was born in 1425 in Clifton, Runcorn, Cheshire, England. Margaret's father was Sir John SAVAGE III and her mother was Eleanor (Elizabeth) DE BRERETON. Her paternal grandparents were John SAVAGE II and Matilda (Maud) SWYNNERTON. She had a brother and seven sisters, named John, Jane, Eleanor, Elizabeth, Ellen, Ann, Katherine and Dulcia Alice.
