Ann Poteat was born in 1847 in Caswell Co, NC. Ann Poteat's father was Elijah Roberts and her mother was Rebecca B. Davis. Her paternal grandparents were Leavin Roberts and Nancy Carrell. She had five brothers and a sister, named John R., James L., Jerome B. J., Elijah Hanville, William Anderson and Elizabeth Poteat. She was the youngest of the seven children.General Notes
