Elizabeth was born in 1493 in Adeston, Devonshire, England. Elizabeth's father was Fulk Prideaux and her mother was Katherine Poyntz. Her maternal grandparents were Humphrey Poyntz and Elizabeth Pollard. She had four brothers and three sisters, named Nicholas, Humphrey, Rev. Robert, Richard, Margaret, Alice and Joan. She was the fourth oldest of the eight children.-
