William Poteet 
William was born in 1839 in Tennessee.1 William's father was Pleasant Poteet and his mother was Elizabeth Gayle Brewer. His paternal grandparents were William Poteet and Sarah Cooper; his maternal grandparents were Edmond Brewer and Frances Poole. He had three brothers and a sister, named John, Jefferson, Joshua and Sarah. He was the oldest of the five children.-
