John Thomas Poteet 
John was born on October 4th, 1842 in Green Co., Kentucky.1 John's father was Pleasant Poteet and his mother was Elizabeth Gayle Brewer. His paternal grandparents were William Poteet and Sarah Cooper; his maternal grandparents were Edmond Brewer and Frances Poole. He had three brothers and a sister, named William, Jefferson, Joshua and Sarah. He was the second oldest of the five children.-
