Gilbert Malet 
Gilbert was born in 1152 in Curry Malet, Somersetshire, England.1 Gilbert's father was William I Malet and his mother was Maud de Mortimer. His maternal grandparents were Baron Wigmore Hugh de Mortimer and Maud Longespic. He was an only child. He died at the age of 42 in 1194 in Shepton Mallet, Somerset, England.2 General Notes

Note: Turton states that a Sir William Malet, d. 1196, wasfather of the William Malet who married Alice Basset. Howeverboth Burke's Peerage and Ancestral Roots have Gilbert as thefather. Turton seems to agree with the other two sources, exceptfor the name of this generation.
