Marmaduke was born in 1498 in Gawthorpe, Yorkshire, England.1 Marmaduke's father was William XII Gascoigne and his mother was Alicia Frognall. His paternal grandparents were William XI Gascoigne and Margaret (Margery) Percy. He had three brothers and four sisters, named George, Henry, William XIII, Anne, Margaret, Elizabeth and Alice. He was the fourth oldest of the eight children. He had a half-sister named Dorothy.-
