Joseph H was born in December 1859 in Iowa City, Wright, Iowa, United States. Joseph H's father was Joseph Benjamin Foster and his mother was Mary Ellen Nichols. His paternal grandparents were Austin Foster and Lucinda Boyd. He had three brothers and five sisters, named James Allen, John Wiley, George E, Nancy Allen, Lucinda F, Isabelle, Alicia D and Julia. He was the fifth oldest of the nine children. He died at the age of 91 on July 20th, 1951 in Sidney, Freemont, Iowa, United States. He was buried in July 1951 in Sidney Cemetery, Sidney, Fremont County, Iowa.-
