Ambrose Foster 
Ambrose was born in 1720 in Essex County, Virginia.1 Ambrose's father was John Foster and his mother was Ruth Hoskins. His paternal grandparents were James Richard Foster and Susannah (Susan, Anne) Garnett. He had five brothers named Robert, Joseph, Richard, James and John. He died at the age of 82 on August 7th, 1802 in Halifax County, Virginia.2 Death Notes

Daughter Mildred Hudson; son Ambrose Foster to have plantation after wife's death purchased from Ferguson. 5 daughters: Sally, Peggy, Betsy, Patsy Bran(Brown?), Fanny Foster; son John Foster. Co. , for the natural love and affection they have for John Crawford and Phebe, his wife, of same county, deed of gift, 70 acres in Spots. Co., and two slaves, etc. Wit: John WALLER, Thomas TURNER, William ARNOLD, ***Thomas HICKS***, JOHN SHIRLEY, JR. and James Crawford Jr. ref: Deed book M page 424 Dec 14, 1752, Benjamin Hubbard and Mary, his wife, of Spots. Co to Mary Hall, widow of Robert Hall, deceased, and Robert, John, Ann, Margaret, Elizabeth and Mary, children of said Robert Hall, deceased of Caroline Co. 15 pounds currency, 100 acres in Spots. Co. which was devised the said Benjamin by his father, Thomas Hubbard, deceased. Wit: William WALLER, John TEMPLE, AMBROSE Foster, JOHN SHIRLEYS, and Jonathon GIBSON. ref: Deed book E page 192 Jan 29, 1793, JAMES ARNOLD and Nancy, his wife, of spots. Co., to THOMAS SHIRLEY, of same county, 22 pounds 8 shillings currency, 108n acres, part of tract conveyed by John Arnold to the said James in Spots. Co etc... Wit: John C.
