Reginald was born about 1406 in Sterborough Castle, Lingfield, Kent, England. Reginald's father was Reginald 3Rd Baron Cobham and his mother was Eleanor Colepeper. His maternal grandparents were Thomas Colepeper and Eleanor Greene. He had two sisters named Elizabeth and Eleanor. He was the second oldest of the three children.
