Clarissa E. was born on September 10th, 1852 in Logan Co, KY. Clarissa E.'s father was Samuel Owen Cloud and her mother was Martha Washington Roberts. Her maternal grandparents were Charles Roberts and Lucy Townsend. She had six brothers and two sisters, named Charles Samuel, Robert Allen, John William, Stephen Richard, Frank Bell, Edgar Wesley, Martha Washington and Lula. She was the oldest of the nine children.
