George was born about 1503.1 George's father was William COURTENAY and his mother was Margaret EDGCOMBE. His paternal grandparents were William COURTENAY and Cecily CHENEY. He had four brothers named Peter, Henry, Nicholas and Anthony. He was the oldest of the five children. He had four half-brothers and three half-sisters, named Philip, John, James, Thomas, Gertrude, Katherine and Elizabeth.General Notes
