William was born on March 21st, 1887 in Lyles, (Hickman Co.), Tennessee. William's father was George M. Dallas Martin and his mother was Mary Parker. His maternal grandparents were Turman Parker and Lydia Tony. He had three brothers and three sisters, named Jerome Berry A., George B., W. Jenkins, Amanda Elizabeth, Julia Frances and Georgia.
