John A. was born in February 1889 in Hickman Co., Tennessee. John A.'s father was Theodore Goins and his mother was Susan Tyler. His paternal grandparents were John Gilford Goins and Angeline Tony Parker. He had three brothers and two sisters, named George C., Otto, Fletch, Emma and Angeline. He was the third oldest of the six children. He died in Hickman Co., Tennessee.-
