  On Sept. 20,1850, the Federal census showed  Maria listed as being7/12 years old, and born in PA.

Maria's father was William Filbe and her mother was Catherine Speck. She had five brothers and three sisters, named Thomas, John, Samuel, William, Robert, Mary Ann, Elizabeth and Matilda.  She was the youngest of the nine children.
