!emigrated 1633; rem.ca 1660 from Wethersfield with Rev.Mr Russell to Hadley;
"Signed agreement 18 Apr 1659 to move to Hadley while a resident of Wethers-
field. Springfield Commissioners gave freeman's oath to him 26 Mar 1661. In
1663, Hadley Res.East of Main Street betw.Thomas Wells & Town Lot on 6 acres.
On 8 Nov 1662, the est side inhabitants agreed with Thomas Wells & John
Hubbard to carry their grain over the River to the mill on certain days of the
week, and bring back the meal, at 3 pence/bushell. In 1669 signed petition
against customs as resident of east side. Dau.Mercy fined for wearing silk
even though his estate was 1063 pounds. Oct.1672, signed petition for enlarging
Hadley Township. In rate for building Fort River Bridge in 1681 he paid 6/5
By 1687 John rem.to Hatfield and his son Daniel lived on his place in Hadley
Townsman 1664,'76,'78, '82.(Hist of Hadley) May have resided a few years in
Concord, MA with Merriams, relatives of his wife. If so, he rem.to Wethers-
field where his first 4 children were born. A settlement began at Hadley with
Rev.John Jussel Jr. as spiritual leader and governing power of band. Made
freeman 26 Mar 1661; After 1672, went to Hatfield and d.there at home of son
