Grace May Drinnin
Grace Drinnin was born November 11, 1886, at the farm home of Samuel Pomeroy and Catherine "Katie" Drinnin. She attended grade school at Platte County District 80 and graduated from Columbus High School in 1917, after which she took up the nursing profession.
She began nursing at the Evans Hospital in Columbus. This hospital was incorporated on March 24, 1920, at the location of the present Columbus Community Hospital. Grace worked here until the flu epidemic, when she began doing private duty. In July 1921 she entered the Wise Memorial Hospital in Omaha for training to become a registered nurse. It was there that she met Dr. Frank Krampert, who was the house physician. Grace is to the left in the accompanying picture.
On May 31, 1922, Grace and Dr. Krampert were married in the Kountze Memorial Church at Omaha. They then moved to Hanna, Wyoming ,where he specialized in surgery.
On July 17, 1925, she underwent an operation for appendicitis. She died July 23, 1925, at the age of 28, from a blood clot following the operation. Grace May Drinnin Krampert is buried in the Columbus Cemetery.
