Surpressed by husband who was uneducated formally, but self taught. from letter of Carol A. Clapp 1/9/1968:"Aunt Emma (Watner) lived on Wauwatosa Ave near the High School. Her cookie jar was always full for Isabel and me to help ourselves after school. On Thanksgiving, the family clan gathered at her house for dinner and what a sight to see. Her husband, Unkle Henry (of Norwegian descent) carve the huge turkey. He was a great joker and would throw me into the air and ask if I'd had fried potatoes for breakfast. Both Aunt Mary and Aunt Emma were popular with the men because they were so much fun. Whenever Frederick Underwood (President of the Erie railroad) came to town they were always invited out. His autos were usually bright yellow and were Fords. Aunt Emma's only daughter was Grace Watner Spaulding. She, like her parents, was a wonderful Christian woman.
