Narrative

[Brøderbund WFT Vol. 1, Ed. 1, Tree #3084, Date of Import: Dec 4, 1998]
!portion letter written to Georgia Meyer Adams, dated 1990, from Patti Jones,
1252 Maplewood Dr., Jenison, MI 49428.
!Silas McCullough was born in Ohio, according to a census of Ottawa County dated
1850. Where in Ohio, I'm not sure. I'm still looking into that. He married
Sarah Jane Williams, 12/26/1847. The 1870 census says he had 6 children:
Thomas M 19 Sailor
Robert M 15 Farm hand
Phebe F 13
Amy F 11
James M 9
Francis M 2
!Son James would be your grandfather. Son Thomas was discharged (medical) from
the service and was later judged insane at 27 years of age. Son, Robert, was
my great, great grandfather. He married Lydia McNutt 12/4/1874. They had 5
children: Sylvester, James, Morris, Thomas, Ruby Louella (my great
grandmother). They divorced and Lydia married Irvin Freightner on 7/3/1891.
!Silas McCullough was in the Civil War; a private in the infantry. He enlisted
2/14/1865. I have sent to Wash. DC for more on his service record, but hav not
received the information. I will forward it to you when I do get it.
!Silas' 2nd wife was Mrs. Mary McNutt. They married 11/12/1871.
!I don't know where or when Silas died. My family thinks they may have moved to
Toledo, OH. I hope to spend a day in Toledo doing more research, probably in
May. I'm enclosing copies of record that may be of interest to you.
!Another note of interest included in correspondence from Georgia, was a note
that son Thomas was also in the Civil War and supposedly poisoned by his 2nd
wife.
