Martha Washington

Martha was born about 1627 in England.¹ Martha's father was Lawrence Washington and her mother was Amphyllis Twigden. Her paternal grandparents were Lawrence Washington and Margaret Butler; her maternal grandparents were John Twigden and Anne Dickens. She had three brothers and two sisters, named William, John, Lawrence, Elizabeth and Margaret. She was the third oldest of the six children.¹
