William was born on February 4th, 1822 in Weavershorp, Yorkshire, Co. England.1 William's father was John F. Turner and his mother was Hannah Idale. His maternal grandparents were John Idale and Ann Cross. He had five brothers and two sisters, named James, Robert, George, Charles, John, Ann and Child.
