Robert Turner 
Robert was born about 1816 in Weaversthorp York Co. England.1 Robert's father was John F. Turner and his mother was Hannah Idale. His maternal grandparents were John Idale and Ann Cross. He had five brothers and two sisters, named James, William, George, Charles, John, Ann and Child. He died on January 31st, 1901 in Mayville Tuscola Co. MI..1 General Notes

Robert Turner was born in Weaversthorp, Yorkshire, Co. England. The child of
John F. Turner and Hannah Idale of Mafferton, Yorkshire, Co. England. In 1823
the family moved from England to Quebec, Canada there they farmed till his
father died of Smallpox. He supported his Mother for two years. He entered the
British Army in 1837 in the Queen's own service and was a member of the Sixth
Company. He was placed on duty of the Secret Service for two years. In 1840 he
married Mary Franklin daughter of Edmond and Ann Wakefield Franklin of Quebec. They had eight children. Mary died in 1860 in Qubec. After her death
he moved to the United States to Michigan in Freemont, Twp. Tuscola, Co. where
he made his home on 80 acres of Goverment land of which he improved it for
farming. He farmed the rest of his life. In 1861 he married Mary E. McClellan
widow of a Mr. Emery she had four Emery children. They had four more children
making a total of 16 children.
