Mehitabel was born on May 3rd, 1713 in East Haven, New Haven, CT.1   Mehitabel's father was Samuel Thompson and her mother was Abigail Potter.  Her paternal grandparents were John Thompson and Priscilla Powell; her maternal grandparents were John Potter and Mary Hitchcock. She had a brother and three sisters, named Samuel, Abigail, Sarah and Mary.  She was the youngest of the five children.  She died at the age of 76 on March 21st, 1790.1
