Elizabeth was born in 1846.1   Elizabeth's father was Jesse Thomas and her mother was Martha Combs.  Her paternal grandparents were Marchant Thomas and Jemima Hamilton. She had three brothers and two sisters, named John B, James M, William H, Sylvania and Margaret.  She was the second oldest of the six children.1
