Abraham was born in 1817 in Virginia.1   Abraham's father was David Summers and his mother was Margaret Howard.  His paternal grandparents were Michael Summers and Molly Acker. He had eight brothers and a sister, named John, Samuel, Henry, Michael, Richard, Reuben, Thomas, Allen and Elizabeth.  He was the oldest of the ten children.  He died before 1902.1
