Samuel Harmon Steele 
Samuel Harmon was born on July 4th, 1802 in East Bloomfield, Ontario County, NY.1 Samuel Harmon's father was Elisha Steele and his mother was Anna Brown. His paternal grandparents were Elisha Steele and Susannah Strong. He had three brothers and four sisters, named Edward, Garret, Elisha, Harriet, Almira, Marina and Anna. He was the fourth oldest of the eight children. He died due to pleurisy at the age of 77 on May 24th, 1880 in Canon Township, Kent County, Mi.1 General Notes

Samuel H. Steele was a native of Ontario County, New York. He moved to
Kent County in 1844, about the date of the survey of the State Road, and
"took up" 400 acres of land. He was a prominent and active citizen,
filled most of the different township (Grattan Twp) offices and was
foremost in all religious movements.
