William Spencer 
William's father was Gerrard Spencer and his mother was Alice Whitbread. His paternal grandparents were Michael Spencer and Elizabeth Unknown; his maternal grandparents were John Whitbread and Eleanor Unknown. He had six brothers and two sisters, named John, Henry, Thomas, Richard, Michael, Gerald, Rachel and Elizabeth. He died in 1640 in Hartford, Hartford Co., CT.1 General Notes

William Spencer's will mentioned "my cousin Matthew Allen, brother John Pratt & John Taylcoate" His wife Agnes may have been sister of Elizabeth, the wife of John Pratt. Agnes m. aft 1640 William Edwards.
William early member 1 Ch. Name on Founders Mounument. Cambridge 1631; brother of Thomas; freeman MA.4 Mar 1632/3; deputy for Newtown May 1632, May 1634, Mar 1634/5, Mar 1635/6-Mar 1637/8 Lt. Newtown 1637; one of the founders of the Ancient and Honorable Artillery Co, and had other evidences of the pupblic favor bestowed on him. Rem. to Hartford 1639, where his home lot was about where the Union depot now stands. Deputy Aug. & Sep 1639, appointed with Wyllys & Webster to revise the laws of the colony; townsman 1640; inv. 291/12/02. He appoints "my cosin Matthew Allyn, my brother John Pratt" and John Talcott to be overseers of his estate. Will dated 4 Mar, presented 4 May 1640.
