Robert Sedgwick 
Robert was born in 1611 in Woburn, Bedfordshire, England.1 Robert's father was William Sedgwick and his mother was Elizabeth Howe. He had five brothers and four sisters, named William, John, Thomas, Steven, Thomas, Mary, Rebecca, Francis and Elizabeth. He was the third oldest of the ten children. He died at the age of 45 on May 24th, 1656 in Jamaica, West Indies.1 General Notes

Robert Sedgwick (1611-1656) came from Andover, Hampshire, England in the 'Trulove' to Mass in 1635. He settled at Charlestown, Mass in 1636, was a freeman in 1637, a representative at the General Court for 17 terms, was the commander of the Castle in 1641, a founder and capt. of A & H A Co, sgt maj in the Middlesex regiment in 1642, organized an expedition against the Dutch in Manhattan in 1654, became a major general and was sent by Cromwell to occupy Jamaica in 1655 and was appointed commander to govern Long Island.
