August Christian Julius was born on March 6th, 1849 in Marxhagen, Mecklenburg, Schwerin, Germany.  August Christian Julius' father was Christoph Schroder and his mother was Wilhelmine Johanna Friederike Biedersteadt. He had two brothers and two sisters, named Friedrich, Christian, Wilhelmine Fredericke and Johanna.  He was the second youngest of the five children.  He died at the age of 73 on December 2nd, 1922 in Riley, Clinton County, Michigan.
