Laura was born in 1822.1   Laura's father was Thomas Ryan and her mother was Polly Nichols.  Her paternal grandparents were Daniel Ryan and Sarah Mehoney. She had four brothers and two sisters, named Lyman, Alexander, Daniel, Joseph, Luritta and Martha. She had three half-brothers and a half-sister, named Samuel, John, Isaac and Fanny.1
