David was born about 1788.1   David's father was John Ray and his mother was Sarah Miller.  His maternal grandparents were George Miller and Mary Comb. He had four brothers and five sisters, named Joseph, James, George, John, Margaret, Jane, Sally, Susan and Lydia B..  He was the youngest of the ten children.  He died in 1833 in Orange Co., N. C..1
