George Phelps, emigrant, came to America unmarried. He came with his older brother, William, wife and family. He sailed from Plymouth, England, March 20th, 1630 in the ship "Mary and John" with Capt. Squab as master with about 140 passengers, landing at Nantasket, now Hull on May 30th, 1630. He settled in Dorchester, Mass. with his brother and others of the Rev. Warham's church, the first settlers of Dorchester.
His first wife, Phillury Randall was the daughter of Philip Randall.
George was the third husband of his second wife, Frances Dewey. Her first husband was Joseph Clark and their children were: John and Mary who married John Strong, Jr.. Frances married her second husband, Thomas Dewey, in 1638 or 1639. Thomas Dewey died March 27, 1648. Their children were: Thomas, 2-16-1640; Josiah, baptised 10-10-1641; Anna, born 10-15-1643; Israel, born 9-25-1645; Jedediah, born 12-15-1647. She married for the third time to George Phelps on November 16, 1648.
