Richard was born on December 26th, 1619 in Tewkesbury, Gloucestershire, England and his baptism took place on December 26th, 1609 in Tewkesbury, Gloucester, England.1 Richard's father was William Phelps and his mother was Elizabeth Marshall. His paternal grandparents were William Phelps and Dorothy James; his maternal grandparents were Abraham Marshall and Mary Hunt. He had four brothers and two sisters, named William, Samuel, Nathaniel, Joseph, Sarah and Mary. He had a half-brother named Timothy William. He died in England.2 General Notes
