Paul was born on November 1st, 1662.  Paul's father was Nicolas Petit and his mother was Marie Pomponnelle.  His paternal grandparents were Nicolas Petit and Catherine Asselin; his maternal grandparents were Jean Pomponnelle and Michelle Boulet. He had five brothers and four sisters, named Louis, Jacques, Nicolas, Michel, Pierre, Jeanne, Marie Renee, Marie Gertrude and Marie Francoise.
