1   Willard's father was Simeon Pepper and his mother was Helotia Brooks.  His paternal grandparents were Simeon Pepper and Esther Jones. He had three brothers and six sisters, named Danforth, Seth B., Simeon, Louisa, Lovina, Mary, Philena, Narcissa and Ashbel. He had two half-brothers and a half-sister, named Elam, Larry and Lucy.1
